Ever wonder why?

Have you ever been asked, why--why you in fact worship and love God? St. Bernard of Clairvaux was, and he responded in the most beautiful of ways. He said in his masterpiece On Loving God:

"We are to love God for Himself, because of a twofold reason; nothing is more reasonable, nothing more profitable."

For one of the greatest minds the Church has ever known we don't love God because He gives us things.

That's why we love Santa, and God isn't Santa. We love God because without Him, you and I don't make sense.

And when this love is manifested within our very lives (each day) we become more authentically ourselves. It's precisely what you and I have been created for, the eternal embrace of God (heaven!).

But the road isn't easy. That's why we need to help each other along the way. Pray for me, and know I'm praying for you.

Friends, be confident in Christ's mercy and love.
